How a Guardian Home works

A breeder who wants to retain a female puppy for their breeding program can sometimes place the pup with a Guardian family. The pup lives with the Guardian and when old enough, if the girl is suitable for breeding, she returns to the breeder and has a litter. The girl would be away from the Guardian for approx 3 months. Once the litter is weaned she would return to the Guardian.

The girl would have a total of three litters with at least 1 year between each litter

Ideally the Guardian home would be no more than an hour or two away from the breeder.

There is a contract in place to protect both the breeder and the Guardian outlining what is expected from both parties.

After the contract has been completed the breeder de-sexes the girl and the Guardian family keep the girl for the rest of her life.
